Online games will improve your eyesight!

Posted on Feb 22, 2012 in Browser Games, Online Games, Skill Games

Many of us would say that our eyesight is getting worse from playing games on computer. But researches show something oposite. Optometrists from the University of California at Berkeley has performed pilot studies  which has shown that games (video games, online browser games, skill games) can improve visual acuity anddepth perception in adults with amblyopia, which is also known as lazy eye. It is a disorder of the visual system that is characterized by a vision deficiency in an eye that is otherwise physically normal, or out of proportion to associated structural abnormalities of the eye. Americans have demonstrated that it takes only 40 hours of training to deal with blurred vision.

Americans have tested two types of games: 1) action games, where they had to shoot a goal and 2) the economic game, consisting of building something. In study took part 20 patients with amblyopia at the age of 15 to 61 years. In the first experiment, 10 people for 40 hours played in the shooting. In the second experiment, three other respondents spent as much time on playing other kind of game. At the time of the session everyone had covered healthy eye.
In both experiments, was reported a 30 percent improvement in visual acuity, which is comparable to the shift of  1.5 on Snellen’s board. Americans insist that in case of child  visual acuity improved by 1,5, were needed 120 hours welding of healthy eye. Vision was tested after every 10 hours of play. Some people started to see better even before than 40 hours.
In another case, studies by researchers at the University of Rochester have shown that games like “shooter” like Unreal Tournament, have positive effect on the brain’s processing of visual signals.
It turns out that people who spent at these online games several hours a day, are about 20% better at identifying visual stimuli.

Posted on Feb 22, 2012 in Browser Games, Online Games

Recently, because of the bad weather outside I have spent a little more time at home. You know, general cleanings, replanting flowers, watching movies and hours spent on social networking sites. Due to the fact that I am interested in games and daily spend few minutes playing them – especially browser games, I decided to take a look on games on facebook. I have to admit that I have never done this before. I am not sure why, because I am an active user of facebook, but I have not.  As it is commonly known, nowadays people are crazy because of facebook. They share with friend millions of thoughts, photos and music videos every day. As we know they also play there online browser games. Unfortunately they do. Every moment my wall is littered with informations that one of my friends broke the record in some game, or that another one has collected five carrots.. Who care? Moreover, every day I get a lot of unwanted by me invitations to this games. Is it so hard to understand that if I am interested in playing facebook games I will do it without anyone help? I have started wondering why people so much like browser games on facebook.  They do not really differ from those that we can find on the web, and additionally it is so cool that everyone know what we play, when we play and how many points we have gained?

Searching the web we can find thousands of browser games that have theirs fans all over the world. But I am not interested in all of them, I am interested in you, so tell me – which is your favorite? In my opinion the most popular are games that are with us from many years, I mean games we have played when we were children and we are able to play now, when we are a little bit older :) . In this article I will try to list few games, that I personally love. First of all I enjoy Shuttle Bubbles. Laying colored balls in a row of three has always amused me. I could play this browser games for hours. Second game on my list is Stacking Blocks. It is quite similar to Shuttles Bubbles, so maybe this is the reason why I so much like it. Moreover I like Tetris, and tell my, who do not? This is the most classic browser game I know. And this is one of the first games I have played in my life. On my list, I could not miss Mario. This is the game of 80s and 90s kids. Simple concept, but really addicting. Thanks God nowadays we can still play Mario, and what more – we can do it online!
